Train in Thailand — Without Doing It Alone
Whether you already train or you’re completely new, you’ll fit right in.
People join us both solo and in small groups, often stepping into their first training experience in Thailand. That’s exactly what this is built for.
You’ll be part of a small, like-minded group — learning, improving, and experiencing what it’s really like to train in Thailand, without having to figure it all out alone.
No matter your starting point, you’ll be supported from day one.

Hi, I’m Ethan
I've trained Muay Thai for the last three years at Core Combat in Bradford. I've also been lucky enough to train in Thailand a couple of times — not on dedicated trips, just slotted into broader holidays — and the training culture out there genuinely changed how I think about the sport.
Fight Escapes started because I wanted to share that experience with people who'd love it but don't quite know how to make it happen alone. When my contacts at MJ Fivepoint in Phuket made a proper retreat possible, I decided to actually do it.
I'm not an ex-fighter or a coach. I'm someone who trains hard, loves it, and knows how good a week of training in Thailand feels. My job is to make the trip straightforward — the right gym, the right group, the right support — so all you have to do is turn up and train.
If you have any questions, the easiest thing is to just email me. I read every message myself.

where you’ll be training
We work with carefully selected Muay Thai gyms across Thailand to deliver authentic training experiences.
MJ Fivepoints Muay Thai Gym
MJ Fivepoints is the gym I chose to partner with. It's respected enough that serious fighters train there, but welcoming enough for people who've never thrown a punch.
Real Thai-style training, run by Thai coaches who care about your progress. The head coach has trained Buakaw, one of the biggest names in modern Muay Thai — so the standard is high, but the atmosphere isn't intimidating.
A short ride from several beaches, which you'll appreciate after your second session of the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

-
Yes — we can offer guidance on flights, and airport transfers can be arranged in advance if needed.
-
Training gear, suitable clothing, and anything you’d normally use for sessions. We’ll send a full checklist after you apply.
-
We cap each retreat at 10 people. Small enough to feel personal, big enough to feel like a proper group.
-
You don’t need to be in elite shape, but you do need a basic level of fitness — twice-daily training is real training, not a token gesture. If you can comfortably do an hour-long Muay Thai or boxing class at home, you’ll be fine. Sessions are adapted to the group, you can pace yourself, and rest is built into the schedule.
-
No — sparring is never compulsory. The training schedule is built around pad work, technique drills, conditioning, and bag work, all of which you can do without sparring. If you'd like to spar at some point during the week, the coaches will pair you with someone of a similar level and intensity. The choice is always yours.
-
You'll stay in comfortable accommodation arranged for the full week. Depending on the retreat, this is either on-site at MJ Fivepoints or at a partner property within walking distance of the gym. You'll know exactly where you're staying, and what to expect, well before you travel.
-
Breakfast each morning and a welcome dinner on day one are included. For other meals, there's a wide range of food close by — Thai cafes, Western options, and plenty of healthy choices. Vegetarian, vegan, and allergy-friendly options are easy to find. Flag any dietary requirements on the booking form and we'll brief the gym ahead of your arrival.
-
Yes — fight night tickets are available as an add on for your retreat. Watching live Muay Thai in Thailand is one of the highlights of the week, and a great way to see what you've been training applied at the highest level.
-
Travel and sports insurance is mandatory for everyone joining a Fight Escapes retreat — we'll point you to providers we recommend. The gym has first aid on-site, the coaches are experienced at handling the usual training knocks, and there's a hospital roughly 15 minutes away if anything more serious happens. Most retreats finish without anything more dramatic than a sore shin.
-
A non-refundable deposit secures your place at booking. The balance is due closer to the retreat date and is fully refundable up to 60 days before the retreat starts. After that point, the balance becomes non-refundable. If you need to cancel for serious reasons, get in touch and we'll do what we can — and this is exactly why we recommend travel insurance.
-
Yes — many people do. The retreat itself is a fixed week, but you're welcome to arrive earlier or stay on after. If you'd like to keep training at MJ Fivepoints once the retreat ends, we can introduce you to the gym for drop-in rates. Mention it when you book and we'll help you plan the wider trip.
